The Farm of Yesteryear

Located in Saint Esprit des Bois, near Plédéliac, the Farm of Yesteryear has been re-established as an eco-museum.

Located in Saint Esprit des Bois, near Plédéliac, the Farm of Yesteryear is an old abandoned farm, restored as an ecomuseum mixing authenticity and living memory of the beginning of the 20th century.

It welcomes families and groups (adults, schoolchildren, etc.) curious to discover the life of the past and the traditional know-how.

In order to fully immerse you in the atmosphere of the 1920’s, the guide welcomes you in period costume and, as you walk through the rooms, makes you relive the life of a Breton family of the beginning of the 20th century, punctuated daily by household chores, animal care, land work and crafts.

You will begin the guided tour by discovering the hôté, a reconstructed period dwelling, then the abas, a room adjoining the hôté which was used to keep food cool. Then you will walk through the different outbuildings of the farm, the cellar where cider was made, the forge, the equipment shed, the attic, the stable and the barns where the farm animals live again. A detour through the garden will amaze you with its diversity of ancient cultures, now abandoned. A short film reconstructing a day in the life of this farm in 1924 will complete your visit before returning to contemporary times.
